Business Services

Here at Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services (MDRS), we want to help people with disabilities achieve their employment goals while also helping employers find a workforce they can count on. By employing people with disabilities, it will allow your business to build brand trust, have a skilled workforce with lower turnover, and help encourage and promote inclusion in the workplace.

Services for Employers

ADA and Disability Awareness Training

We can provide training to employees on disability etiquette and ADA topics. Such topics include appropriate disability language, different ways that individuals with disabilities communicate, and best practices when it comes to working with people with disabilities.

Reasonable Accommodations

In order for an employee with a disability to preform the essential functions of their job, accommodations may need to be addressed. We can provide job and worksite analysis, information on assistive technology devices, and assistance with worksite and equipment modifications.

Qualified Applicants

Our representatives at MDRS can get to know your business needs and utilize this information to match you with the right candidate. We offer on the job training and support so both you and the employee will be successful. It is our goal to provide you with the best candidate that has the skills and ability to fit into your workplace.

Internships and Career Exploration

We can offer a number of services to help individuals with disabilities explore different career opportunities before committing to them. These services are geared to serve the client and business alike. They include: internships, community-based training experiences, job shadowing, on-the-job training, customized hiring programs and facility tours.

Other Opportunities for Partnership

MDRS Employability Job Fairs

Several times a year, MDRS will host job fairs to help promote the hiring of Mississippians with disabilities. It is a free service that provides opportunities for both employers and job seekers across the state.

Job Extravaganza Events

This program, that is hosted by MDRS contractors, targets schools and students with disabilities to help them recognize job opportunities within their community. Instead of a job fair, these events focus on the businesses participating and bringing a functional piece of their business for students to try and experience first hand. If you would like to participate, please contact us to see when the next job extravaganza will be in your area.

Conduct Mock Interviews

All of our Mississippi business partners are encouraged to participate in mock interviews. Our goal is to help emerging professionals with disabilities gain confidence and sharpen their employment interview skills.

Host A Trainee

When businesses are not in the position to hire, we offer short term work-based learning at no cost to the employer. This will give the trainee the opportunity to learn soft and hard skills in order to pursue a more permanent career in the future. Notify us if you are willing to host an MDRS client to help them gain skills in your field.
