Project SEARCH informs parents of internships children with disabilities can have

GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) - In Gulfport on Thursday night at Singing River Hospital, Project SEARCH held an information night for parents of children with disabilities.

Project SEARCH allows high school graduates with specific needs to experience the workplace through a nine-month program.

Project SEARCH instructors say that information night is important for parents to see the options their kids have post-high school.

Project SEARCH Instructor Danny Wasilenko says, “It helps fill that void between where parents don’t know what to do after high school with a child or student with disabilities as far as in the employment world. Project SEARCH offers those skills to train these individuals for the workforce.”

So far, more than 250 individuals with disabilities have graduated from Project SEARCH in Mississippi.
